In his more than 16 years with Rio Tinto, Allen has worked across various business functions and across many products such as alumina and alumina hydrate that are used in glass and glass-ceramics.

In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing technical marketing activities in the Pacific for both borates and aluminium alloy. Allen’s recent work also includes the use of borates in battery applications and lithium-containing products.

By collaborating with customers, operations, R&D partners, and end users, his work provides organizations with:

  • A valuable combination of commercial and cross-products experience
  • Technical expertise in end uses
  • Value-added services from a holistic business approach

Allen has two bachelor’s degrees in materials engineering—one from Wuhan University of Technology in Hubei, China, and the other from Monash University in Victoria, Australia. He also has a master of commerce degree from the University of Queensland in Australia.

Allen is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese in both a technical and commercial capacity. He is also conversational in Japanese.
