U.S. Borax’s sales and logistics team attended Owens Corning’s annual supplier recognition event where we accepted two awards: Supplier of the Year for 2022 and as a finalist for Value Creation.
Based in the United States, Owens Corning’s three integrated businesses—composites, insulation, and roofing—provide durable, sustainable, energy-efficient solutions that leverage unique material science, manufacturing, and market knowledge. U.S. Borax has been supplying their refined borates needs for more than 25 years.
The Supplier of the Year award reflects our entire mine to market team’s contribution to:
- Providing excellent customer service in a logistics constrained market
- Delivering working capital value
- Ensuring communication and supply options amidst supply chain challenges
Owens Corning chose U.S. Borax for these awards from all of their suppliers amongst freight services, rental equipment, specialty materials providers for their roofing and insulation business, and other raw material suppliers.
“U.S. Borax has been a strategic supplier of Owens Corning for decades and the growth we’ve shared together over the past year has been extraordinary. This strong relationship we have has enabled us to mitigate many supply chain risks, as well as lower our carbon emissions by sourcing domestically. We were thrilled to award U.S. Borax as Supplier of the Year and continue to view them as a great example and model of what a true strategic supplier relationship looks like,” said Gael Heskia, VP of global sourcing and supply chain COE.
“Strong customer relationships are the key to any successful business and we are proud to be a key supplier of Owens Corning because of our shared values and our mutual commitment to sustainability in manufacturing. Our goals intersect in not just commercial excellence, customer centricity and lowering our carbon footprint, but also in the areas of workforce diversity, and transparent governance,” said Colin Thomson, general manager of global sales with U.S. Borax.
