Pest Control Operators (PCOs) use borates to control wood destroying insects including termites, wood boring beetles, carpenter ants and wood decay fungi - as well as other pests including cockroaches, silverfish and ants. PCOs use borate-based products for remedial treatment of wood building materials, using a wide variety of application methods including spray, foam, brush, injection and dust.

Borate-treated building materials and remedial treatments are not mutually exclusive. In fact, soil treatments and periodic inspections - both performed by PCOs - used in conjunction with borate-treated building materials are important elements of an integrated pest management system: the best way to protect your most valuable investment from wood-destroying organisms.
