Borax Delivers

With customers in nearly 100 countries around the world, Borax has refined the art of distributing borates quickly, safely and cost effectively. Our distribution expertise dates back to the 1880s when company founders pioneered the use of twenty mule teams to haul borates from Death Valley, California, across 165 miles of wicked terrain to the nearest railhead.
  • From its principal mine in Boron, California, Borax supplies the domestic market primarily by rail, either directly to North American customers or via strategic inventory points.
  • South American markets are served directly by Borax mines in Argentina.
  • To reach European markets, borates are first shipped by rail to the company's refinery and ship-loading facility in Wilmington, California, in the Port of Los Angeles. The cargo is then loaded onto bulk vessels for shipment to Borax distribution centers in the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. From there, borates are unloaded, inspected, packed and distributed via rail, barge, vessel or truck.
  • U.S.-mined products intended for the Asia Pacific region and other international markets are packed in containers and shipped via container vessels loading at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
