LOG HOMES

With the rising popularity of log homes comes rising concern about protecting those homes from wood-destroying organisms. Treating logs with borates prevents infestation by house borers, powder post beetles, termites, and other wood destroying insects - and prevents wood degradation due to common wood rotting fungi such as dry, wet and white rots. Borate can also be used in conjunction with many sapstain chemicals to combat wood-staining fungi.
Choose Tim-borŪ Industrial for protecting logs - either through dip treatment of green, debarked logs followed by a diffusion period prior to construction, or impregnating seasoned and unseasoned logs through vacuum pressure. Species being treated include Southern Yellow Pine, Eastern White Pine and Red Oak. In the absence of any standards designed specifically for log homes, retention and penetration levels in excess of those specified by the American Preservers Association are being used, typically in order to convey termite resistance.
