Borax is proud of its
achievements toward sustainability over the past
four years, but remains committed to improving
its program and performance. Major challenges we
will address in 2004 include: |
 |
 |
 |
Integrating
sustainable development into key business functions – including
human resources and sales and marketing practices – to
identify gaps between our current processes
and our commitment to sustainable development.
For instance, we need to better integrate sustainability
into employee recruitment, orientation and
development systems. |
 |
 |
 |
Formalizing our
stakeholder engagement activities by improving
how we prioritize stakeholders; identify their
expectations; and align projects, performance
measures and communications accordingly. Borax
will continue to invite people from outside
the company – including customers, community
leaders, government officials and environmental
organizations – to meet with our executive
team to provide feedback and counsel. |
 |
 |
 |
Demonstrating
the business value of sustainable development – to
confirm the return on the investment internally
and to leverage the commitment for competitive
advantage among customers. |
