Borax’s mission is to maximize our long-term value by remaining the global borate supplier of choice – to sustain and build on the success we’ve maintained for more than a century. Supporting that mission are principles that guide how Borax’s practices and products contribute to sustainable development.

These principles lay the philosophical framework for our efforts to operate in a sustainable manner. To translate philosophy into practice, we developed five sustainable development objectives. Finally, we set indicators, metrics and improvement targets within each of these objectives, against which we rate our performance in subsequent years. An overview of our sustainable development framework is below:

Borax holds individuals accountable for achieving sustainable development targets through its performance management system. Each improvement target is recorded on employee scorecards and team scoreboards. Progress toward those targets is monitored by employees’ supervisors at least quarterly.
