Who has a stake in our business? We
define stakeholders as people whose opinions and actions can influence
our success. Clearly, Borax employees fit that definition. In 2003,
Borax’s workforce was comprised of 1,452 people employed
on a full-time basis. Just over half of our workforce is employed
on an hourly, rather than a salaried basis. Of those, nearly 90
percent work in the United States under collective bargaining agreements
as members of the International Longshore & Warehouse Union.

Elected and appointed government
officials in the Asia, Europe, North America and South America
with jurisdiction over Borax operations, offices and products |
Community
leaders and neighbors surrounding our operations. |
Members of the academic and scientific
community with expertise and interest in borates |
Non-governmental organizations
whose mission to protect people and the environment coincides
with Borax’s commitment to sustainable development |
Borax is currently working to improve how we identify,
prioritize and interact with these stakeholders. |
