BORAX TRANSITIONS POLYMER ADDITIVES BUSINESS TO LUZENAC
Strategic move will advance zinc borates' use in polymer formulations; Enhance technical support for customers
VALENCIA, CA - Rio Tinto Borax, the world's leading supplier of refined borates, has transitioned its Polymer Additives business to its sister company, Luzenac, in a strategic move designed to accelerate business growth and augment customer service.
"This transition represents the culmination of many months' analysis of how best to provide the most value to our customers in the polymers industry," said Keith Sperring, Business Builder for Borax.
Luzenac, the world's leading talc producer, will now be responsible for building awareness and markets for zinc borates for polymer formulations. Borax, the world leader in borate research, processing and innovation, will continue to produce zinc borates from its refinery in the Port of Los Angeles.
"Together, our two teams have unparalleled expertise about zinc borates' superior flame retardancy in PVC, polyolefins, elastomers, polyamides and epoxy resins. This transition allows us to intensify the technical support and service we offer to existing and new customers," said Mr. Sperring.
